Our Founder
Lucy
Our founder had a dream to help as many pets as she possibly could, but being the age of 10 her options were very limited. She expressed her desire with her family and after many discussions it was decided to make her dream a reality. Her family had several ideas, but most just didn’t seem like they would benefit very many homes. After hearing a commercial on the radio for a food pantry, Lucy asked if they helped people with pet food too. Well, probably not, so she said she wanted to start one just for pets, and so it began, December 2020.
Lucy's story
I have always had a love for animals. At the age of 10 years old I decided to ask my family for support in creating a pet pantry to help local families keep their pets during times of hardship.
In December 2020, this became a reality. We officially started Lucy's Pet Pantry.
Asking for donations from people is hard when you are only 10, however I did not want to see those commercials on TV where animals were sad. We started receiving small donations from people that wanted to help. At this point we were running it out of my grandparent’s basement. They have a LOT of stairs to carry those giant bags of food up and down.
In 2021, we helped 9 families keep their 12 dogs and 13 cats fed. When 2022 ended we had helped 10 more families with 5 dogs and 6 cats. March 15, 2023 we finally got a very large space. Best part, NO STAIRS!
Now, in the first 3 months of 2023 we have helped 13 families feed 14 dogs and 17 cats. With the ability to help so many more. I guess the one thing I would like you to take away from my story is nothing is impossible at any age.
If you would like to know more or would love to help my mission, please reach out to us.
